Following the footsteps of her mother, Sharon became an esthetician in 1989, when she first trained at the Elizabeth Grady institute in Connecticut. Returning to The Netherlands, she continued the Integrated Esthetics Studies at the O.L.B. in Hengelo, with a background in management, marketing, psychology, and primary medical knowledge. She holds a Cidesco diploma and is a licensed massage therapist. She is certified in many esthetics specializations, studied at Schoevers College in The Hague and College for the Hospitality Industry-Tilburg. She has enjoyed performing services to her clients over the past 20 years of owning their business, and is passionate about serving their clients at the highest standards.

Hanneke is from The Netherlands and has been an esthetician since 1979. Her extensive studies started in The Netherlands. She successfully owned and operated a skin care practice for over 15 years, and became highly specialized in the industry. Some of these specializations are Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage according to Dr. Vodder, Shiatsu, Acne, Aromatherapy. She holds a Cidesco diploma, the highest accreditation internationally, since 1991.
Besides her passion for esthetics, she also had a passion for the United States. She had lived in the US for a few years in her early married life and started her family in Chicago. After they had decided to move back to The Netherlands, they visited the States frequently. It was on one of her trips to the US, late 80’s, when she was offered a job at Elizabeth Grady Face First in CT, which gave her the insight and expertise in a very dynamic and rapidly growing skin care industry. It was her vision to open up a skin care institute in the US, and this came to realization in 1995.

Having grown up in the spa industry around practitioners like her mother and grandmother, skincare and wellness have long been passions for Shannin. She was able to apply and build on those passions at The University of North Carolina at Asheville where she researched happiness and the mind-body connection, graduating cum laude with degrees in Health and Wellness Promotion and Psychology. She later graduated from the Esthetics program at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College at the top of her class. She holds a certificate in Microdermabrasion and is a Healing Touch student. Shannin has been a trainer and held leadership positions in the spa industry since 2013. She is most inspired by the results that skincare treatments can provide and loves empowering her guests with the knowledge and tools to achieve those results in between services. When she is not pampering her clients, Shannin enjoys spending time in nature, playing guitar and relaxing with her pet rabbit, Luna.

Michelle joined the Palestra team in 2015 with 12 years of experience, and she brings to the table a true passion for the healing power of touch. Michelle is a Board certified massage and bodywork therapist. Also Certified in CPR, Facial Reflexology and is a Level 4 Healing Touch Apprentice. Michelle holds the highest intention for the good of the client as she integrates a wide variety of healing modalities into a therapeutic session. Michelle values giving back to our community as a Hospice volunteer and has done so since 2001. She loves spending time with family, close friends and pets. Michelle’s hobbies include nature walks, hiking, meditation, yoga, Qi Gong, reading, and cooking.
Native of Toronto, Canada, Colleen orchestrates daily activities for smooth operations and superb guest services. She is the friendly voice when you call to make an appointment, gives detailed attention to your needs and is dedicated to make your visit a long-lasting impression.
Her extensive experience in customer care goes back to the beginning of her career where she attended customer’s at a department store. Throughout her career she worked in various facets of retailing. Excelling in guest services is second nature to her.

With her Hospitality Management Degree from Central Piedmont Community College, Kristin brings her skills and natural talent for assisting others to Palestra. Alongside her passion for hospitality is health and wellness, which has always been a big part of her life. Kristin graduated from the Asheville Yoga Center with a 230 hour Yoga Alliance Instructor certificate and began working in the spa industry in 2014. She brings a unique style of yoga with restorative and yin influence to the spa through customized, one-on-one sessions.
In her spare time, Kristin enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, working out, and creating art.
